Fried Clams coming home from the Cape?

Hey Folks -- Just heard from my Dad that his favorite place for fried clams (Sandy's in Buzzard's Bay) has closed down. It was the perfect spot to stop on the way home to Boston at the end of a summer weekend. Any Chowhounds able to recommend a replacement for folks coming over the Bourne Bridge and heading north? Much thanks.

best clams on the cape are Cookes in Mashpee and Hyannis, there is no substitute..

Yes, there are MANY great places on the Cape to get great fried seafood, but I think the OP was looking for places to stop on the way back to Boston, which is what prompted me to suggest Plymouth.

We love the Lobster Hut in Plymouth. Expert frying for all seafood and super fresh. Located on the town wharf. We were just there on Sat. and it was outstanding as usual! Their coleslaw is really great, too....which can be a dealbreaker for me. Good portion sizes and prices. Take the Rt. 44 exit and follow it into Plymouth, directly towards the wharf. Cross over Rt. 3A and go left at the rotary. You'll see Lobster Hut in the back, behind the large parking lot on your right.

Lobster Hut is much better than the Weathervane but I prefer Wood's Seafood right on the wharf. It's a fish market that fries up great fresh clams and seafood. Top notch.
