Silvertone's downhill??

Just got back from a really disappointing night at Silvertone's. I'm not sure if it was an off night or if others have been and it hasn't been that good. My boyfriend ordered the calamari for an app. He mentioned it was very onion heavy tasting. We found out they put leeks in it, which if it was balanced correctly, fine, but it was overwhelming the taste. I ordered the buffalo wings and they were very good--too bad they were the highlight and I should have just had those for dinner. My boyfriend ordered the mac and cheese. While creamy, you couldn't taste any cheese. Not sure if they were using a very mild cheddar, but he had to add salt and pepper just for some sort of taste to it. I got the pork chop. I should have asked for it to be cooked medium, but I wasn't asked (so I should've had a clue) and it was tough and cooked too much. The nice part was that the waitress took it off our bill for us and apologized. It's not her fault that the kitchen screwed up. We did tip our waitress though 20% as she was very nice. I had told my boyfriend how well Silvertone's did as far as comfort food, and I was embarrassed after when it did not come out well at all this time around. We both lamented that we should have just gone to Trader Joe's and gotten something to make at home. So, I guess back to my question...have other's noticed a downhill slump recently or do you think it's just an off night?

I had a late evening meal at Silvertone the other night, and it was all good: a nice bowl of Yankee-style chilli with house-made tortilla chips and a grilled cheese sandwich with fine fries, plus a very nice-priced bottle of red to go with it. Nothing sub-par about it. I hope yours was an anomalous experience.

I was there about a month ago, and the mac and cheese was as good as usual. The drinks, however, were a bit stronger than usual....

Aren't the drinks always pretty strong there? That's what I remember anyway...

I was in Sat night and didn't notice anything off. My fave, the bistro chicken, was as delicious as it's ever been, and my DC raved about the jerk chicken. Also, yum to the the Moscow Mule - perfect for a hot steamy night! Sorry to hear your meal was a disappointment, but hopefully it was just a blip.

Haven't been in a while personally, but my significant other was raving about the catfish special he had there for lunch just last week?

Hmm...maybe it was just an off night then or the dishes we ordered were the off ones for the night. I have to say I was surprised as I've always loved Silvertone's and they've been consistently good.

I had an unimpressive meal once about a year ago. I'm usually a fan and order the steak tips, but this time I ordered a half-chicken, which was served with fries. The chicken was not cooked as much as I would like. The skin wasn't really browned and was a tad on the rubbery side. Like I said, this was a while back.

I've never had a bad experience at Silvertone. In fact, I would say that it is very easy to see when an owner loves his/her restaurant! That is the vibe I get everytime I visit Silvertone.
