Culver City...before Cinema Bar
Metro Cafe is right by there - I think the menu has enough choices that you could adust your eating capacity before walking over Cinema Bar. Metro can get crowded as the food is great, reasonably priced, and the double-secret contra-diner contraband menu that they covertly slip you offers a lot of non-diner choices. We were just there yesterday and had the pear & blue cheese salad and prosciutto sandwich (like a caprese sandwich but with some good parma as well).
Probably your best ethnic choice that's a couple of blocks away is Tito's - not! The small Burmese eatery called Jasmine that doubles as a micro-mini market serves a unique Burmese Muslim menu. I'm not sure if it's halal but I'm sure it doesn't matter in this case as I don't see you walking into Cinema Bar to protest their strong drinks...
