¿Whole Foods Albany?

Is that what is going in alongside University Village at San Pablo near Marin? It should make for an interesting dynamic in the local supermarket arena. I'd expect most people I know will go as if they were looking at a new model home, and then not go back.

  1. Are you sure? I had no idea.

I'm really, really sad that they cut down those trees. (Home to Albany's only deer.) But if I can walk to a Whole Foods, I might be tempted....

    1. That's what I've heard too. Don't think it'll be coming in for a while though. I would love it if I can walk or at least bike to Whole Foods. The one in Berkeley is not appealing to me at all and Oakland is too far.

        1. I think it's happening. The Whole Foods website lists Albany as one of their stores in development. It's slated to be 44,000 sq ft, much bigger than Berkeley and almost as big as the new Oakland location. If it's being built from scratch, I'm sure opening day is at least a couple years away.

It's far enough south and west of the other area supermarkets that this seems to make decent sense...

          1. Yes, this has been in the works for a while.

Whether this is the same sort of bait-and-switch that's going on in Berkeley with
            the "Trader Joe's" building, I couldn't say.
