where to buy lobster or shellfish stock

I don't have enough shells to make it and I didn't see any at Surfas to go with my Bomba rice (my new favorite thing - heinously expensive, but worth it). I know that Santa Monica Seafood doesn't have it. Any ideas?

  1. Maybe Bay Cities Deli on Linclon Blvd in Santa Monica.I'm surprised Surfas didn't have it.

I have a jar in my fridge right now, which I purchased from Surfas. It's in the refrigerated section, against the west wall of the store. They have jars of every kind of base, from chicken to vegetable to crab to name it. Perhaps you didn't look closely enough because it took me a little while to locate it, but they do have it. It costs about $18 - $20 for the jar.

    2. Whole Foods sells fish stock in the frozen section - not sure if that is the same thing as shellfish stock.

      1. Call Fish King in Glendale and see if they have it in their freezer case.

They also carry some nice frozen stocks at Julienne in San Merino. Not sure if they have lobster, but it's worth a call to see.

I just visited Surfas' web site, and they do show Lobster Base. If you conduct a search on their site for "lobster base", you'll see that they do have it available.

I second Bristol Farms... Was in their Westchester store a week ago and I could swear I saw it in the freezer section along with other stocks in plastic containers...
