Italian in Old City

We are going to Philly this weekend. Can anyone recommend a good Italian restaurant in Old City. We are staying at Penn's View. Don't want super expensive. Let's keep it under $30. Thanks!

2nd vote for Radicchio. We've been to La Locanda and it's good but Radicchio is a step above IMHO. Plus they have outdoor seating and the windows open. It's really nice on warm evenings. Get the Dover sole, at $22. it is a bargain. The pastas are great as is the warm buffalo mozzarella with sauteed mushrooms.

      Agreed, Spasso and Ghiotone.

Spasso looks good to me! Thanks! We'll go there tomorrow night. Thinking of going to Standard Tap tonight. What do you think?

La Locanda del Ghiottone is another great spot (quite a bit of seafood, though). Citysearch is telling me that there's a $30 prix fixe available, and while I don't know about that, I do know that the regular menu should be about right where your price range is.

Heh, I knew before I read your post that you'd recommend my favorite!

I LOVE La Laconda and they have very reasonable ($15 range) entrees. They also have really delicious (and complimentary) bread spreads, different each day, made from pulverized vegetables and olive oil.

If you want even cheaper, Gnocchi's entrees are around $10 and they're good too. More of a hike though -- South Street and ... 4th maybe.

La Locanda-- what do you recommend getting dish-wise? I'm going on Friday and want to eat everything on the menu!

I always liked Spasso on Front St between Chestnut and Market Sts. It is well within your price range.
