Grillin on the Bay
Has anyone been to this BBQ event in Sheepshead Bay in the past? Is it worth the journey?

It is a good event for a good cause-- raising money for a school that hosts a special olympics team.
Some of the best bbq/grill cooks from the northeast are competing here-- Big Lou from Wildwood, Andy Husbands of Tremont647, Robbie Richter of Hill Country and Fatty Cue...Josh Ozersky aka Mr. Cutlets is cooking....Circque de Soleil will be there...

I'll second BC's post above.... this event is a great local low keyed event with a nice neighborhood schoolyard "old Brooklyn meets bbq" vibe that's not found anywhere else. It's the antithesis of the Madison Park BBQ block party event coming up soon (which I'll also go to). Very informal, very friendly and a great chance to stand around and talk to the folks that make the food. Yes, that end of Brooklyn is a really long ride from Manhattan but, for the thousands of CHounds with cars or for those of us lucky enough to live in Bklyn, this is fun for a Sat afternoon. And within a stone's throw of Brighton Beach and (in the other direction) DiFara's. Hopefully, I'll see you there.
Since BC might not have noticed that the thread was originally from last year, let me add that this year's event is in 2 days... this Saturday, April 4th.

re: nokitsch
Living bayside in Manhattan beach I have to say that the resident Swans, Bufflehead
Ducks, Scaup (ducks), Grebes, Loons, Sailboats and ambiance are worth the journey
- but alas there is little to get excited about in the restaurant category - perhaps
Maria's on Emmons (been there 75 years - a bit pricey) or Halikarnasis - the grilling
event does attract some big names in BBQ and does benefit St. Marks school.
