Toss-your-own Salad in Midtown West

chiniqua Jun 5, 2008 09:16 AM

Sorry, the title makes me giggle too...
So my office just moved to Midtown West (just South of Rock Center) and I have been searching like crazy for a good toss-your-own salad place. Not one of those crazy too-expensive fancy ones like Chop't (because $11 is too much for a salad) but a good deli that has a wide selection of fresh ingredients (some mini mozzarella, sundried tomatoes, avocados, frilled portobellos, that sort of thing) that doesn't cost a fortune.
So far I've found nothing but a dire Cafe Europa and some sad 6-ingredient choice type places.
Help, please. Otherwise I"m going to eat at the McDonald's down the block every day and it won't be pretty.

I'd go for PAX, the one on 40th and 6th seems to have the fresher and more varied ingredients.

I used to live and work around there and my favorite salad place was Pax. But it's not really any different than Europa. I don't know what exactly you're hoping to find around there...

There is Bocca, another biz cazh lunch zoo, that has an antipasto bar you might try.

If you really wanna giggle, take a look at the attached photo taken outside of Pick-A-Bagel on 23rd and 3rd..
