Baltimore/Inner Harbour suggestions pls?

b3ngs Jun 5, 2008 08:00 AM

Hi Everyone! My bf and I will be in Baltimore on Fri/Sat/Sun and are staying at the Tremont Plaza Hotel. A few things on our agenda - Baltimore Museum of Art on Friday night for an event, the aquarium and the National Zoo on Sat and Sun. Any restaurant suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I was thinking of maybe one nice dinner, one casual dinner, divey places (if any) for lunch and a nice Sunday brunch. (I already read up on the berger cookie so that's on our list). Thanks in advance!

The reason you have not exactly been overwhelmed with responses is that this question gets asked, on average, about once a week. You may want to search the term "Inner Harbor" and see what you get.

My advice: Whatever you do, get yourself to Lexington Market, which is closed on Sunday, ad skip a nice Sunday brunch and walk down to the Farmers Market under the JFX (they'll know at your hotel) and graze and people watch there.

    Enjoy your visit.

Best eats on Sunday is in Greektown, either The Acropolis or Ikaros.

Avoid Inner Harbor restaurants. Mediocre food. Tourist traps.

Is the Acropolis or Ikaros better than Samos?

I may be the minority (and I haven't been to Acropolis or Ikaros ... yet), but I enjoyed my meal at Zorbas much more than my meal at Samos. The atmosphere at Samos is nicer than Zorbas though, so depending on your priorities/the occasion, that's something to keep in mind.

No one ever said that the majority was always right. The food at Zorba's is way better than Samos.

go to Mamas on the Half Shell in Canton (10 minutes top from the Inner Harbor) for great Maryland seafood. They also have Sunday brunch.

Mama's on the Halfshell is very good. The seafood chowder and a crabcake sandwish should is a great meal.

Friday night can eat at te museum. Gertrudes at the BMA is nice and you can eat outside in the sculpture garden if the weather is right.

Thanks so much for the suggestions everyone! We went to the Lexington Market twice and tried Faidley's and bought a few (more like 3 lbs :>) of berger cookies for our friends to try. It was such a hot weekend that my bf and I were just not in our element. We did enjoy Faidley's and had a good time browsing at the market. We also tried an El Salvadorian place but since I'm from Miami, I was not that impressed with the food. On Sunday, we were invited to eat at Bo Brook's so we didn't really have a say on where to eat but we enjoyed the company!
