Need help looking for food cart rental idea

le radis Jun 4, 2008 07:56 PM

My daughter is looking for an idea for a fall sorority outdoor event in Los Angeles for approx.120-150 girls. The house usually hosts an event to welcome girls in the fall and is looking for a "cart" like food vendor that would be a novel end to the day-
7:00 PM-11:00 PM. The actual dinner is usually served indoors but does not have to be and what would really be great if a "theme" could be incorporated with both-for example, frozen nonalcoholic margaritas and Taco Bell cart. A vendor used in the past was an IN/OUT truck. The "trendier, girlier" the better as long as they are concerned. Not being from the Los Angeles area, I told her I would try the Chowhounders for some great ideas. I thank you in advance.

You might want to check out this company. I was at a party and these people did the catering. Simple kind of foods like hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream, (frozen margarita's--sure you can get non-alcoholic) etc... Sure they can work with you on a menu of different stuff if you want.

Taco Bell cart? ugh! I've been to mexican parties where they have 'the taco man'. A guy that brings a huge gas fired grill and just knocks off big quantities of tacos. You might be able to find one through craigslist, but it might be possible to find one simply by asking people that run taco trucks.

It would very likely be cheaper than other options.

Some Ben & Jerry's stores rent ice cream carts for events. Call around to one near you.

I know Shave it, a wonderful Hawaiian Shave ice place, does a cart on premises. The only Shave Ice I've found that reminds me of the stuff I got in Hawaii.

Dandy Don's is amazing ice cream, and also does on-site

            Either can't go wrong!

Thanks so much for your suggestions! I have checked the website of the Hawaiian Shave It Ice and contacted them. It seems it is going to work out they have a van and set up on site. So cute and may make the theme easier to pick. Thanks again.

How about going to a local Farmer's Market and ask the food vendors if any of them do parties?
