ABC Chinese Seafood, St. Petersburg

This was my second visit to ABC this evening and this meal was even better than the first. We started off the Salt and Pepper Calamari and also an order of fried dumplings. The dumplings were very good but the calamari was excellent.

Skipped the soup course tonight and went straight for the entrees. There were four of us so we ordered three entrees and a vegtable side dish. The entrees were Curry Chicken, Beef with Season Vegtables in X.O. Sauce and Honey Walnut Shrimp. All three would easily be repeats next time but the shrimp were outstanding. There must have been at least a dozen or more shrimp, easily extra large if not jumbos, along with honey and sesame coated walnuts. This was a killer dish.

And I don't remember what the vegtable was but it was stir fried with a garlic sauce.

All the food, two soft drinks, hot tea and complimentary dessert (which was like a cold fruit and tapioca soup), the total was $70.

This is definitely my chinese restaurant of choice in Pinellas county now!

Thanks for this recommendation, my mouth is watering. I haven't had good Chinese since I left NY over 2 years ago...I had kind of given up. Actually had to learn to make my own cold sesame noodles since my sweetie was craving it so bad. (Mine are actually better than I've ever had in a restaurant, I'm proud to say!). We'll definitely stop there during our honeymoon. RibDog, I think we were separated at birth!

I'm not that hard headed. One can always learn something new about cooking. Including ribs. I look forward to reading it.

Wow, thank you for the post--I went to ABC last night for the first time and was blown away. We had lobster in XO sauce, wonderful Ma Po tofu, shrimp w/ fried milk, crispy duck and the best singapore noodles I've had outside of Singapore. 4 of us enjoyed all of this plus beer and wine for just $130 and plenty of leftovers. It's great to have such good Chinese food in Pinellas.

I was not the first to post on ABC. I wish I could give that proper credit and my thanks. It is great!

                dmfnole,

The ABC Chinese Seafood Restaurant is located at 2705 54th Ave. N. #3 , St. Petersburg. Their phone is 727.522.1888. If you live in the Tampa Bay area check out http://www.asiatrendmagazine.com/ATM_... for their list of top Asian restaurants in the Orlando/Tampa area. There's some more that are excellent and not on the list also. Try China Yuan on Armenia, just north of Waters.

I finally made it out to ABC Seafood a couple of weeks ago. My young son was cranky so we did takeout. The clientele was almost exclusively Asian. We ordered a fried shrimp entree that came with a few of the most unique sweet deep fried milk balls. This was actually my favorite thing. Crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside.
I ordered the spicy eggplant dish, which I requested to be extra spicy. When I got home, I saw a small container of what looked like hot oil. I put this on the top of the eggplant in the usual amount. I was in for a pleasant shock when I realized this was much spicier and more flavorful than that run of the mill chili oil. There might be some scotch bonnet in there. The eggplant itself had a nice flavor - if you are fond of 5 spice powder, which I am. If you're not, than I would not recommend this dish. We ordered the black bean noodles with beef. The beef was tender and flavorful and the noodles were good. I will definitely be back.
Has anyone tried Lucky Star Hong Kong Style Chinese Restaurant on 66th St N in St. Pete which was on the link in mikestalder's post? I have never heard of it or noticed it, though I'm sure I've driven by there dozens of times.

Wonder if this is the same Lucky Star Hong Kong restaurant that was on 34th St. about 8 years ago. I was in Miami on my way to Naples when I saw their ad in the Florida Chinese newspaper. Stunned by the possibility of Hong Kong style food in St. Petersburg, I didn't even stop in Naples and kept on to St. Petersburg. What I found was decent, authentic Hong Kong style food, but certainly not what I was used to out here in California.
