Indian Grocery Store in or around Stamford

Does anyone know of an Indian grocery store in the Stamford area? I'm looking for something that is clean and has a good selection of both food and films. I drove by the store on Prospect in downtown but it looks a little sketchy...any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Not Stamford, but there is one off exit 14 in Norwalk. I've never been in, so I don't know the quality.

Same question, just a year later. Anyone know? I am looking for a place to buy some paneer.

On RT 119/Tarrytown Road on/near boarder of Elmsford and White Plains there is a Indian Grocery and a Persian market. One or the other may have what you need.

There is a place down in the cove area of Stamford, between Shippan Ave and Cove Park, in that cluster of stores just before you head up the hill (heading from west to east.).

the produce is a bit sketchy, but lots of spices and canned goods. It ain't the cleanest or the cheapest, though. I've noticed a big selection of videos, too, but no idea if it is any good, since i barely speak English, let along Hindi! there also used to be one at the top of the hill, closer to Cove park, near Pat's Hubba Hubba, but if memory serves, they went out awhile back.

And as Reggiano mentions, there is one on the Post Rd in Norwalk, roughly across from the Best Buy plaza, though I to have never been in.

Last but not least, though I sound like a broken record here, I've been amazed at the selection of dhal, spices, condiments, and other Indian goods (a lot of the same stuff at the store on Cove Rd, and at better prices) at

          ....drum roll please...

Commerce Park Shop Rite off Exit 6... the ethnic food aisle, front, left. (No, I don't have any financial interest there, and my last name isn't Cingari, but I'm starting to think I should be on commission!)

I will happily support your recommendations for Shop Rite of Commerce Park. I'm always amazed at the selection they have! Though I have 3 other grocery stores which are closer to me, I always go to that Shop Rite.

Thanks ChefBoyAreMe and gillyweed. I think I'll try ShopRite first, since it seems to be the safest and cleanest option, and if not I'll look for the place in the Cove area. (If anyone knows what it's called that would help!)

Jon1856, I rarely venture out to Elmsford/White Plains area for groceries, but if I'm ever in the area, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

The shop in the Cove is called Asia Bazaar. It is just east of the Shippan area Shop Rite (but note this is not the store I pointed to earlier...it is smaller, and has no where near the selection of the Commerce Park store

Thanks, and I agree those two Shop Rites are not near the same caliber.
