Sheppard's Mansion

Just like to drop a note that my wife and I recently had a great experience at Sheppard's Mansion in Hanover, Pa(around an hour or so from Baltimore-but a beautiful ride if the weather's nice). We celebrated our anniversary, and we love going to old country homes, mansions and the like. We hate chains and places that are crowded or loud-especially for a celebration. Sheppard's Mansion was classy, romantic, not overly crowded and surprisingly not extremely pricey . Some of the food was unusual-the menu changes quite a bit based on the season and what is fresh, as most of the food is organic and grown locally.

The chef-who has a blog- has an extremely impressive resume, and every part of the meal was outstanding, especially the beef entree(more like a filet mignon) and the pretzel rolls. The service was friendly, attentive and assisting-especially with some of our dietary restrictions.

You couldn't ask for a better place to celebrate an anniversary.
