Hi all. I was wondering how long miso paste will last in the fridge before it spoils. Thanks for your help!

  1. A while! It's a very salted product, and aged to begin with. I've had miso for a year in my fridge before.

Alot of the miso I buy tends to get a bit darker on top after a bit, but I just scrape it off. (tasty!)

As with any food though, my motto is "when in doubt, throw it out". If it looks furry or otherwise gnarly, give'r a toss.

    1. It will never go bad. A zillion years from now, cockroaches will be eating the miso we leave behind.

      1. I'm glad you asked this since I've been wondering it myself. My brother and sister-in-law, who lived in Japan for several years, said it didn't last that long. They must have really lost track of time since folks on here say the opposite. I hope my brother and SIL are wrong!
