Interstate 87 lunch spot

We drive up to Canada from Westchester many times per year. I could use a few ideas for a pit stop along the way that is family-friendly, not too expensive, and preferably not a chain. It has to be convenient access from the highway. We often stop at Lox of bagels and moor in Glens Falls, but we could use some inspiration for a hot meal. Thanks!

  1. Try Winslow's, which is at Rt. 9 and Gailor Rd., near exit 16 of Northway. Old roadhouse, specializing in turkey dinners; really good ones, too.

    1. The Rusty Nail on Rt. 9 (Exit 9) is also good for burgers and have the best wings ever (IMHO). Make a right at Exit 9 and a left onto Rt. 9 (it's on the right). Only 5 minutes from 87.

Isn't Giffords BBQ near by there as well....there is a mexican place right off of 13N in Saratoga where the Packhorse used to be as well....

It's Giffy's BBQ; pretty mediocre bbq, but a pleasant-enough lunch stop.

      2. The Ripe Tomato in Malta is a good restaurant and family friendly. My college graduation was celebrated there with 5 young kids attending. It's off exit 12 when you are heading north.

        1. I'll second The Ripe Tomato. I also enjoy PJ's BBQ off of exit 13 whenever I'm in the area.
