Brunch or coffee near New Rochelle train station

asm_ny Jun 3, 2008 09:42 AM

We're hoping to meet some car-free friends in a very short time window (a little over an hour) at the New Rochelle train station. The train station itself has nothing to recommend it as a gathering place, so we were hoping for a decent place within walking distance where we can grab some coffee or food on a Sunday morning. Obviously, it would be great if there were a real Chow find, but we'll settle for ordinary but not unpleasant. 4 adults, 4 kids, varying ages.

There is a small coffee place called Kaffeine on Division Street just a few minutes walk from the train station. It's before you get to Main Street (accross the street from the new Avalon building next to an Italian restaurant called Da Vinci's). They have a small patio area in the back with some tables if the weather is nice (and there are also tables inside if it isn't).

You may want to try G-Bakery. It is a columbian bakery with good emapanadas( yes for breakfast), pastries and a couple of egg & arepa dishes. It is very casual and there are not many tables so your group will have to be flexible about seating. G-bakery is located on North Ave, 2 blocks south of Main Street, about a 5-7 minute walk from the station. One of my favorite spots for a non-american breakfast break. Enjoy!
