Talk of the Town (Donlands and O'Connor)

  • 4

I was at an Indian wedding on the weekend and got talking to this guy who is originally from Tanzania. He mentioned Talk of the Town at Donlands and O'Connor as being a really good, authentic East African Indian place that he goes to whenever he needs a fix of cooking form back home. I'd heard of this place, but can't find any refernces to it on this board...anyone been?

  1. I pass by it all the time but have never seen any comings or goings. I actually thought the place was no longer in operation. Interesting.

I know for sure that it's open. I think it just gets a really late night crowd. I intend to check it out in the next few weeks.

Do you mean Simba Gril?. It's a small, inexpensive Tanzanian restaurant on Donlands south of O'Connor on that strip where the movie house used to be.

No, Talk of the Town is at the other end of the same strip plaza.

      2. I have driven by this place for years and finally went in. I asked for a menu and the server was absolutely shocked and actually said "You want to eat"? Interesting response!!!! Turns out it's primarily a drinking place! Perhaps if you are Tanzanian you can get food, but I certainly wasn't able to. I have gone a few times to Simba Grill and enjoyed it.
