Saturday Lunch in Northfield, MN

I have an engagement in Northfield this Saturday afternoon, and would like to find a relatively kid-friendly place to dine in town. I assume that since it's home to 2 colleges, there will be some interesting and not-too-expensive options. Also, if there's a favorite ice cream parlor or other dessert type place, that would be great as well.

  1. Well, I'm a tad late, but a few recs for the future:
    (1) Hogan Bros has decent sandwiches with a spiced oil that I still crave after moving 1700 miles away, and a variety of scooped ice cream. I would say it's a good value-- about 2 years ago, I could get out of there for about $6: sandwich, soda, ice cream.
    (2) B&L's or Basil's Pizza (please tell me these are still open) have the "Greek" pizza that I can't seem to forget. Greasy, cut in squares, mmm.
    (3) Chapati- good stuff, although it's SLOW, so only good-natured or particularly patient children would be enjoyed by the other customers.
