yeah, i know it's a goofy, made-up holiday but i decided to assert myself.

i'll cook a bunch of lobsters (because i like to) and deb will do the sides. sparkly wines and beers will round out the feast.

getting hungry thinking about this.

what's on your menu?

No father on the scene here...but, may I ask what sides deb will create? Am going to a lobster party this weekend and need to bring a side....green salad already being donated and someone is bringing a tortellini casserole ... I was thinking some kind of cooked veg dish...any ideas? Of course this is open to anyone and forgive me if I seem to be hijacking this thread...I don't mean to. In a situation like this, let's not kid ourselves: the lobster is the star of the show but just thought I'd see what someone else pairs with lobster.

howdy val,
yeah, that's the $64 question. i'm hoping for some bean, corn, red/green pepper kind of marinade thing. i have no clue what i'll get. we'll see.
let the record show that the lobster is always front and center.
i'll report back.

Steve, I've read (probably right here on this board) that CORN is a good side with lobster...so maybe I'll do a corn casserole....hmmm...

We will be having perfect weather, which means party on the patio!

I am going to marinade thick cut pork chops with a rosemary, mango juice and chipotle concoction and grill them in foil/marinade till the last 15 minutes- then I'll grill them , will stuff some poblano peppers (black beans, doctored up rice, queso fresco, smoked gouda, cilantro & green onion, canned hatched chopped chilis) and our famous chopped mexican salad (jicima, fresh roasted corn, black beans- the usuals!).

Dessert? Maybe mango sorbet? Another fruited sorbet? There was a bittersweet chocolate ice cream recipe on the HC board I might try....

Happy Early Fathers Day to all the cool Dads out there. My Husband is one of you!!!!

Corn is terribly out-of-seaon in lobster territory at the moment, but it is great, grilled with lobster.
That said:
Cole slaw is great w/ lobster too... shedded cabbage, grated carrot, Helman's & salt. Yum!
French fries
Steamers
Potato salad (like the cole-slaw ol'fashion NE style; potato, egg, red onion, Helman's salt & pepper)
Think simple!
