Classic Sundae?

o

I am looking for the real-deal / old school / classic hot fudge sundae. Served in a glass, not in styrofoam, with real fudge, peanuts, and whipped cream that doesn't taste like air.

Fosselman's is tasty but comes in styrofoam.

It's OK if the place is a sit down restaurant and not a ice cream shop.

This is centered on the East side of LA but I will travel to the Westside if necessary for this.

Thanks.

The Tam O'Shanter in Los Feilz has CC Brown's sundaes. CC Brown's invented the hot fudge sundae in 1906. That's where I'd go. Look and drool:

    Now I want one!

TOWHEYS!! We go there just for the sundaes! Awesome. Bitter sweet dark chocolate.

The best one is at Lawry's. It's made with "C.C. Brown's" hot fudge, and is huge, in a glass bowl, and delicious.

I second Lawry's. It is the best! I plan my dinner around ordering the sundae. I love how they give you extra fugde on the side and their almonds are perfect.

I believe Milk has a hot fudge sundae.

Twohey's in Alhambra - though it comes with toasted almonds rather than peanuts. Try the hot dark chocolate fudge! Served in a lovely glass with a long-handled spoon.

Twohey's does indeed serve an epic hot-fudge sundae.

I third Twohey's, and it's close to the OP as well. I would avoid the other food items though

Fourth Twohey's! Especially since they'll put any ice-cream flavor you want into any ice-cream dessert you order, meaning you can get hot fudge over chocolate. Add the real whipped cream and the cherry, and that is DESSERT!

And I don't really understand the hate they get for their other food here, frankly. It's by no means outstanding, but I've always found it better than edible.

The food at Twoheys reminds me of Bob's Big Boy, which isnt necessarily a bad thing.

Fair Oaks Pharmacy ... and the best part is that it comes with Fosselman's ice cream.

As far as I know, they don't serve Fosselman's at the Fair Oaks Pharmacy, but rather Dreyer's. Soda Jerks (RIP) used Fosselman's, but not the pharmacy.

Down the street (Mission) there's Buster's and they serve Fosselman's. Haven't had a sundae there in years so can't remember if they offered it in a glass or not. Maybe they do since you can get coffee in a mug.

Looking quickly at Fair Oaks Pharmacy's menu and interesting they charge 75 cents for a 2 cent plain???

You're right. I was confusing FO Pharmacy with Soda Jerks.

By the way, I believe FO Pharmacy serves Alta Dena ice cream.

One of the best is actually at California Pizza Kitchen, served in a massive goblet, and the fudge is gooey and chewy...

I agree. I'm in the valley, and go to CPK when I have a sundae craving. Cheesecake Factory also has a very good sundae, but I tend to get the mudpie, which is basically a sundae served over a decadent chocolate layer cake.
