Tete-a-tete with cocktails?

Hey CH'ers, I need some help! My friend just came back from school and we are looking to catch up over some fun cocktails and nibbles in the downtown core. We want a chic and cosmo scene, buzzy but not too loud and busy. Preferably something like The Harbord Room (I love all their cocktails and the space is cute) but in the area between College and Front, and Jarvis and let's say University. Is this asking for too much? I'm blanking on ideas.

  1. How about Sidecar on College? I haven't been, but it's been getting great reviews for its cocktails.

I've been there once, and while it was very cute and cozy, I felt the cocktails didn't really live up to what I imagined them to be, from all the hype on this board. I felt the cocktails at the Harbord Room were much, much, MUCH better.

    2. What about the Paddock?

I've often griped about the state of bartending in in Toronto (abysmal), but the Paddock is quite good. Atmosphere is cozy and intimate. And you can get a decent snack if you get picky.

PS - It's a little outside of your preferred geography, but I'd say it's worth the trip.

This place looks FABULOUS! I think i'll have to go to the Paddock with other friends though because my friend wants it to be walking distance (in the prescribed area)

      2. Laide at Adelaide & Jarvis great cocktails, not too load and a fun atmosphere..

          1. Kultura on King St. has gotten some good press for their cocktails.
