where to buy soft shell crabs in Village or Soho?

I want to do Mark Bittman's quick recipe for soft shell crabs from this week's NYT. Who has them around where I live (Washington Square Village)? Does Whole Foods? The only fishmonger really close to me is Lobster Place on Bleecker and I am a little disappointed in the freshness of their offerings. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Try the fishmongers in Chinatown, there's a good one on the South side of Grand Street between Bowery and Christie. The fish/seafood is fresh, and the prices are much better than most other places, Fresh Direct and Whole Foods included.

Will they clean them for you in Chinatown?

They're the president's special on fresh direct this week. I think they were 3.95 each.

I made that recipe on Friday with soft-shell crabs from FreshDirect. I've never bought them before so I have no basis for comparison. I thought they were good. And I thought the recipe rocked.

I've seen them at Citarella on the UES, so I would imagine they have them at the Sixth Avenue store.
