Does Luger's still serve the Bavarian Crepe cake????

I am going tomorrow and have always wanted to try it. However, I do not see it on their latest menu. Do they still serve this and it is just not on the menu? I believe they got it shipped straight from Lady M in Manhattan.

I was there for a lunch burger (not so great) two weeks ago. Yes, they do have the crepe cake.

They do indeed have it. I wrote this back in 2008 but have been back several times since. It is not listed on the menu but you can certainly ask and they will serve you.

i've been to the great neck one plenty of times, and the w'burg one twice, and have never seen or heard of this.

They didn't serve it the (next to) last time I was there, and I did not ask the last time: Saturday. BTW, ordered the fries for the first time - limp. Shared my friend's baked instead. The steak, however, was stellar....exceptionally good, and I'm already a Luger Fan.

I choped up our leftover bacon and threw it into a meatloaf on Sunday. Nice Addition. The leftover steak was lunch today!

Please report on your meal; you were so clearly looking forward to it... I hope it 'lived up'!

sorry wendy... i've never had an uncrisp fry at the 25+ times i've eaten at lugers.

I really don't particularly like the fries all that much and can see why Wanda would say that. Unfortunately, I normally go for lunch so they don't have the German potatoes. It's really a shame that they don't, since they are so good...

You can get them at lunch.
Have had them run out but they "found" some for us.
Never knew about the Crepe cake but I have never looked at a menu.
How much do they mark it up because if it is the usual number then the slice would be what, $50? Lady M is not economical.

You must have a lot of juice or maybe you haven't been there recently because I make it a point ask for them every time I go and then give the waiter my "the German potatoes are really great and I don't really like your fries" speech every time I go in hopes that they will come to their senses and start serving them at lunch.

I am not too juicy. When did you first experience not be able to get the G potatoes?
The fries don't cut it. Actually, I don't think the potatoes are great but they are more appropriate for the steak. As for the burger, I just skip the fries. Actually, the burger was not up to standard last time or two. Sigh.

I've never gotten the burger or any of the specials for that matter. I could see straying from steaks for 2, if I went there every day for a week on maybe the seventh day. But it just seems like a missed opportunity going infrequently, althoug folks seem to like the burgers, specials etc... I love the lamb chops, but only as an add on to steak.

Well, I cannot promise I had them within last 6 months but at worst it was a year give or take. I understand your view on getting the steaks. Burgers used to be top notch but I have put the whole place on hiatus for their recent performances. Any example of a special? 2 raves for the lamb chops in the same day, interesting. I really do not know what to tell you about acquiring the potatoes at lunch.

Specials: I go in there and I see people getting daily specials. The only one that comes to mind is corned beef and cabbage though, although I know that there are more on the menu for each day of the week.

German Potatoes: I can make a pretty big stink, but I usually keep myself under control at Lugers since I know that bacon is coming... Maybe I need to be more demanding... I'll make a bigger fuss next time I go and see what happens.

I think PL fries are some of the best I have ever had. I ask for them well done and theyre mostly perfect. Cruncy golden brown and fluffy on the inside.. fried... in..beef..fat mm.

I'm a fan of the fries. Tho my Dad being a traditionalist only gets hash browns. If they didn't have it on the menu in 1965, he won't order it. It may sound sacrilegious but the lamb chops are to die for, makes a good app if everyone eats just one.
