Best Well-rounded Indian Place

My family is meeting my boyfriend's family mid-June and we've decided the best place to go would be an Indian place. I've probably only eaten at four or five different Indian places in Chicago and don't really know what the buzz is.

My boyfriend's sister and mother are vegetarians and his little brother is a VEGAN. My family are relatively meat-centric, like bold flavors, and will eat everything but aren't fans of the raw-food craze/high end vegetarian stuff (I brought my mom to Green Zebra and she wasn't 100% on board) -- ergo the Indian restaurant decision.

So if anyone could give some recommendations on excellent Indian food that also has numerous vegetarian options and even some vegan options, I'd be really appreciative. We'll travel out to Devon, but I think the suburbs are too far for us.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Viceroy of India on Devon Avenue is fantastic! I've taken numerous friends there over the years and they've all been very impressed. They definitely have plenty of vegetarian options, but vegan I'm just not sure. You will not be disappointed. The Tandoori Chicken, Saag Paneer, Onion, Spices, and Potato Masala Dosa, Chana Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala, curried veggies are standouts!
