I will be visiting Nashville soonI will be with some friends celebrating their anniversary and looking for the absolutely best place to stay in town along with the best food, atmosphere, service, etc. Is the Capitol Grill in the Hermitage Hotel the best fine dining spot in the city. Thanks.

  1. No I don't think The Capitol Grill is the best fine dining spot in Nashville.
It wouldn't make even my top three list.
For me I think the two best spots for fine dining are Watermark and Margot Cafe and Bar. No other restaurants in Nashville come close to those two for me.

    1. Capitol Grille is right up there.

Zola and Watermark are top notch. And I think Andrew Chadwick's has to be in the conversation, too.

As great as Margot is, I don't really think of it as "fine dining".

I think Margot certainly is as fine dining as Zola.......both have similar atmospheres

      2. chadwicks' cost the most... and he has that kind of menu
stay far away from capitol grill - just not so good...
watermark is a nice choice with a view
for great food the top restaurants are zola's, f. scott's. ombi and city house
        margot's is good
but in nashville - nothing is consistent
you can be floored one time, and then it can be so-so the next time

My wife and I ate at Acorn when we were there last week and it was fantastic. Excellent crab cakes, salads were right on, and the beef tenderloin and lamb we had were killer. The service was great, and we'll definitely be back.

See that's the problem -- I ate at Capitol Grill in Nov of 06 and it was flat out fabulous, even after the great chef left (whose name escapes me).
As much as I love Ombi and City House, I wouldn't call them the best dining in town because both have such casual atmosphere.
Watermark (I found the cocktails and wine unconscionably overpriced, though), Zola, Acortn, Chadwicks (but I haven't eaten there).

          2. Hands down - Andrew Chadwick's.
