Joe's Steak House
My parents used to go to Tallahassee on special occasions to go to Joe's Steak House in the late 1950's and 1960's. They loved the Cheese Salad Dressing and would bring it home to the kids.
Does anyone remember this place or is it a figment of my imagination?
You're not dreaming. But it's no longer around. From what I gather it was one of the places where the lobbyists and legislators used to wheel and deal in the back room. The name crops up every now and again in legislative histories from the 60s and 70s. But if anyone on this board ever ate there or know someone who did, it'd be steakman55.
Joe's Steak and Spaghetti House was located on Mahan Drive, where some state offices are now located, near the credit union an Shell station. It was a large brick building run by the Graganella family. Big rival of the Silver Slipper and Talquin Inn, the former of which is a survivor. Later became a night club before being razed in late 70's or early 80's.
