Outback at Crowfoot (Calgary)
Has been torn down, raised, demo'd... not a trace of it left save a pile of rubble. I'm mourning the loss of their coconut shrimp... ok maybe not since I can make them better (and cheaper) at home.
Does anyone know what's planned for the space? Please tell me it's something other than an East Side Marios or the like?

Where is the third one? I have gone to the first, just north of West Edmonton Mall and the second on the southside.
I have to admit that when they first opened I enjoyed them but quality did not continue. We were last at one a few months ago and it was "desperate" and none of the party would be going back anytime soon ... more "bloomin' onions" for everyone else I guess.
I do not miss the food nor the "Americanized Crocodile Dundee" character.

sharonanne: A year? geesh you'd think I'd have noticed before last week then. The only time we've been to Outback was with a gift certificate and we haven't received one in awhile so I guess that's why it took me so long to notice :) I guess I'm not at Crowfoot much anymore because of all the development in Beacon Hill, Coventry and Symon's Valley I don't usually need to venture that far west... oh well... I'm hopeful the office space has room for retail on the main floor like they've done elsewhere in Crowfoot. Who knows, maybe something other than a chain will decide to open up in the new space - I can dream heh :)

re: sharonanne
One of my dreams is to have a Planet Organic or Community Natural Foods open up here... I'd like to have less than a 15+ min drive for good organics... I know there's Superstore in my backyard (almost literally) but they seem to perpetually be out of bananas for instance... and they don't carry things like organic bell peppers, zucchini or kale...so I either make the drive to Planet Organic or Amaranth and/or stock up on the weekend at CFM. I was happy to discover however, T&T does carry organic tofu ...and they're close by... but it gets time consuming making so many stops.
Ok I'm probably whining a bit... but it'd be nice to win the lotto and be able to live nearer to the core so our fave food shopping places weren't such a drive. :)

We've been waiting for word but nothing. It's been down for quite some time. At least a year. Also, something has been happening at Rafters for about the same time period that could be a restaurant or retail. I guess restaurant owners have as much trouble as we do getting construction done in this city though the Crowfoot theater had reno's done lickety split.
