MSP Pistachios
Let me start by saying that I completely adore Bazzini's Super Colossal Pistachios, from their Greenwich Street store in Manhattan. Haven't yet had better.
These nuts go wonderfully with Sidecars, and I have a couple of friends dropping by for one or two of suchlike. I'd like to be able to foist some great pistachios upon them.
Sadly, I'm not in Manhattan, I'm in Saint Paul.
Nominations for places in the Cities that peddle exceptional pistachios are welcome/yearned for.
thanks!

I have gotten nice shelled ones at the coop. Mississippi Market. I imagine the other coops would have them as well. Not sure what their lineage is (probably not Turkish) but they've been good.

re: karykat
Thanks folks!
Haven't gotten to Caspian yet; I ended up improvising with some nuts from Kowalski's.karykat, Which Mississippi Market are you meaning? I hit the one at Fairview/Randolph, but all they had were bulk, in the shell, in the dispensomatic bins. Hunted around to no avail. Could you have found these at the (larger) Dale St. store?

I was just at the Caspian the other weekend, and they had a couple of varieties. A couple were flavored, but they had the really small pointy ones (Turkish, maybe?) that have a very delicate and different flavor.

If you go to Caspian for pistachios, be sure to taste first. Most of the time, the nuts are great, but I've had the occasional not-so-great batch. (Uncrisp and slightly old-tasting.)
And leave time to browse the shelves - there's a ton of great stuff at this Middle-Eastern deli, like my beloved Turkish apple-peel tea.Anne
