I let my sister borrow my coffee grinder and I don't have it back yet. I had pre-ground some coffee, but I ran out this morning. I tried using my food processor, but it cam out a little chunky. Does anyone have a good coffee grinder alternative until I get mine back?
TIA

Two thoughts: Buy a cheap blade grinder, and keep it as a spice or herb grinder when yours is returned.

Or, try your hand at Turkish coffee, where a mortar and pestle grind is simmered with sugar. The Ethiopian coffee routine also uses a motar and pestle.

Granted that would work but it would be a lot of work to get it to a fine grind for Turkish coffee. Would most likely end up with a coarse grind and if steaped would be closer to cowboy coffee.

I too would recommend a cheap blade grinder. Often under or around $10. I keep one for travel and use another one for spices. Home coffee is ground with a conical Solis burr grinder and a Mazzer for espresso.

Do you mean manual grind? I got a Zassenhaus on eBay and it gives a great grind, Also good for cumin, fennel and other spices. But that 2.5 minute coffee grind is hard to face in the mornings, so I still keep a KA burr handy.

jayt90 - I have been looking at the Zassenhaus - they are things of beauty - I might have to grind the night before if it takes that long - I barely function in the am

another option for manual might be the Camano coffee mill that someone posted about a while back. I think it was here: www.chowhound.com/topics/493602
It looked nice, but i don't own one. i'm happy with my little manual, 'ancient' fashion (not just 'old' fashion) stone quern, which might be a bit heavy to lift for most people in the A.M. Hours.
