My boyfriend and I will be in Philadelphia for four full days in June. We are adventurous eaters from LA, looking for a unique-to-Philadelphia chowish experience. We will be staying in the Swedesboro area, but we're willing to drive a bit. I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer suggestions.

Does anyone know how far Swedesboro is from the city? Or the areas surrounding it? I am not familiar.

I've heard of it (I think). Are you going to venture into Philly? If so, go to the Reading Terminal Market http://www.readingterminalmarket.org for the quintessential Philly food experience. There's also plenty of BYO's in town worthy of a visit, gelato at Capogiro, a trip to the Italian Market, and spots in Chinatown.

It's in South Jersey, about 20 miles from the city down 95 and across the Commodore Barry bridge.

try Carmen's Country Kitchen 1301 S 11th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147, (215) 339-9613. Although i think she closes in the summer, but not sure when. Also try MONK'S CAFE , at 16th and Spruce. Excellent mussles and fries and good beer. Have fun!
