Are decent Kolaches available in this area? I went home (Southeast Texas) for Memorial Day weekend, but I didn't get to eat any Kolaches because I had stomach virus. Now I'm motivated to see if I can find some good ones here. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I think there might be Kolaches at the Folklife Festival celebrating Texas! Yea!!

Oooh, now that would be worth the hassle factor of actually going downtown. Where did you hear this delicious rumor? I heard there was going to be wine (don't laugh too loudly, they make it in Maryland, too) but was truthfully wishing for barbecue!

I know this may sound over the top, but have you considered calling the Czech embassy? They may have a good lead, or even know someone who bakes in their home and would be willing to sell them to you.

I have an Australian friend that tracked down what she was looking for after a tip from the embassy.

What a shame you were sick and missed eating opportunities. Alas, I've yet to find kolaches here. I miss the ones in Houston we used to get -- yum! It's nice to meet another Texas ex-pat!

If you ever get to Baltimore, Sophia's in Broadway Market has them at Christmastime.
