Shanghai style soup dumplings in South Florida?

Does anyone know where to find authentic Shanghai style soup dumplings in South Florida? Gary Woo's in Boca serves them but they are a far cry from the real deal. I sure do miss NY Chinatown.

  1. Or anywhere in Florida... After reading about them in my Bon Appetit, I'd love to have some. Yum!

    1. I'm surprised you were able to find them at all. As you indicated, soup dumplings, a.k.a. XLB (short for Xiao Long Bao) are a Shanghai dish and typically found only at authentic Shanghai style restaurants. (Gary Woo's is the first time I've heard of this dish at an Americanized Chinese restaurant.) Authentic Shanghai style restaurants require a core clientele of Shanghainese or Taiwanese patrons, but from what I can tell most of the Chinese in South Florida are Hong Kong/Cantonese in origin, whether they came from the old country, Cuba or New York.
