amazing mexican food in montauk

just got back from a long memorial day weekend in montauk, and aside from the great weather and fantastic lobster rolls (again) at duryea's on fort pond, i had some of the best mexican food i've had in new york at the hideaway. it's hidden behind the diamond cove marina off west lake drive. we started with fantastic spare ribs for the table which were about as porkily delicious as possible. nice and sweet but also slightly spicy. great flavor. also tried the mexican grilled corn which was just as good as any of the versions i've had at the ball fields in red hook. the vegetarian nachos were also delicious but the star of the show was the absolutely incredible fish tacos. perfectly fried grouper with tangy slaw and creamy aioli on top of fresh corn tortillas. 3 tacos for $10 which comes with a few sides. my wife's chicken tacos were also fantastic. light years better than la fondita in east hampton (or is it amagansett).

great atmosphere, great service and slightly hidden. super highly recommended.

It's in Diamond Cove Marina, I think there's a sign that says Hideawy but it doesn't jump out at you. Very friendly place. Located next to Westlake Chowder House. They serve BBQ and Mexican, which are the husband and wife's two favorite foods. Great bar right on the water too.
PS I never thought La Fondita was that great myself.
