El Patio on Guadalupe?

Anyone ever tried this place? Seems like I read about it somewhere recently, but cannot find the article now.

My favorite part of El Patio's dishes is that they do not fill the plate up with shredded lettuce, etc. You order beans, rice, enchiladas... and that is what you get. The food is always hot. Their chili sauce has lots of meat and does not have a bitter taste. They are my favorite Tex Mex restaurant.

I think this place is good for a hangover, certainly a must try. Does anyone know if they still serve sorbet at the end of the meal?

If you love Tex Mex you'll enjoy El Patio. I like the beef enchiladas topped with plenty o'cheese and guacamole. Mmmmm. You have to ask for saltines now...that's probably the only change in all the years they've been around.

It's as close as you can come to "the way it used to be". They used to serve saltines instead of chips, but the last time I was there (in Dec.) we were served chips.
It's old school Austin Tex-Mex-- just what we wanted!

An institution, but they serve saltines instead of chips, so a quirky institution. It does maintain a loyal following.

Oh, yes! It's a bit of an institution. From what I've sampled, I would say it's Tex-Mex, old school style with the chili, cheesy, yumminess of that genre.
