El Patio on Guadalupe?

  • 8

Anyone ever tried this place? Seems like I read about it somewhere recently, but cannot find the article now.

  1. Oh, yes! It's a bit of an institution. From what I've sampled, I would say it's Tex-Mex, old school style with the chili, cheesy, yumminess of that genre.

    1. An institution, but they serve saltines instead of chips, so a quirky institution. It does maintain a loyal following.

      1. "Matt's El Rancho" north of the river.

        1. It's as close as you can come to "the way it used to be". They used to serve saltines instead of chips, but the last time I was there (in Dec.) we were served chips.
It's old school Austin Tex-Mex-- just what we wanted!

          1. If you love Tex Mex you'll enjoy El Patio. I like the beef enchiladas topped with plenty o'cheese and guacamole. Mmmmm. You have to ask for saltines now...that's probably the only change in all the years they've been around.
