BBQ Rubs & Sauces

For all the BBQ aficionados out there:

I'm lookingl for local stores that carry sauces and/or spice rubs from some of the well known Texas, Kansas City, etc...BBQ joints. I'm looking for the real award winning stuff that is usually only available at the actual restaurants or via mail-order. Any ideas or tips are appreciated.

  1. This is not the best answer to your question but

I am quite sure you can buy the sauces from the stands which are not all available in stores. Apologies if I am incorrect. Hope it helps.

Dinosaur BBQ sells their stuff in stores and at the spot up in Harlem. Personally the Habenero BBQ sauce is one of the best I ever had.

I got my favorite BBQ sauces and spices from 17th Street Bar & Grill and Big Bob Gibson in the past Big Apple BBQ event. The good thing was that you could taste the meat that they sold and chose the ones you like.

And you can pay with credit card there.

And you could even taste the different sauces too! I think Big Bob had a variety of sauces out for anybody to try last year.

I can't tell you how much easier it is to buy at the block party than to use the order form online (which you still need to call and fax and blah...) for ordering 17th Street BBQ Sauce. I actually never used it for bbq ribs (rarely eat or cook at home), but on eggs, sandwiches, everything you can imagine.

      2. The Garden of Eden on 14th street has a decent selection of BBQ sauces
Gourmet Garage, Citerella, West Side Market have ok selections
might want to try Fairway, I have not been.
