Quite pleased with the reuben at Pops (South End)

Pops ended up being my backup when the Butcher Shop was not open yesterday, and I have to say it worked out well. There was a bit of a mix up with the food order and the kitchen was a little slow, but when all was said and done and I tasted the pressed NY reuben, everything was forgiven. I have to wonder if they do the corned beef in house. It was tender, flavorful, thickly sliced, topped with swiss cheese and sauerkraut. Served on marble rye, the sandwich was nicely pressed and delicious. The soup of the day was a tomato and basil which I enjoyed as well. Anyone have recommendations for other sandwiches I should try?

  1. The corned beef is indeed housemade. I'm a big fan of it, gave it a stuff@night dining award last fall, but not everyone here loves it. All of Pops' sandwiches are worth trying; I just wish they didn't use a brioche roll on that burger. Outstanding fries, too, definitely worth the upgrade from chips.

    1. I agree the reuben is great. The sandwich is very filling and a little difficult to keep in tact, but still tastes great. The service at lunch is a little "on edge"/nervous and the food is slow from the kitchen, even when they're not that busy.
