Orlando/Miami visit from Ireland

As my wife and I are visiting Florida next month from Ireland, we are looking for some recommendations for our stay.

Just to let you know, we're staying at the Omni in Championsgate for a week, so are looking for some interesting, mid-priced, non fast-food restaurants in Orlando (preferably not too far from the hotel)

Then, we're off to Miami, where we're staying in both South Beach and Key Biscayne. I realize SoBe has a lot of places to eat, but we'd like to find a good seafood place, maybe a place serving Florida specialities, as well as somewhere for a special treat.

Thanks a lot

At the end of Key Biscayne (look for a lighthouse) you'll find Boater's Grill for seafood. On South Beach on 5th Street, try Tap-Tap for an "only in Florida" type experience. They have musicians some evenings.

    Enjoy!

Thanks - we love seafood, so will have a look at Boater's Grill

    2. Welcome! Your hotel has my favorite Asian restaurant, Zen. Be sure to catch a meal there. Great hot Asian dishes and the best sushi! Try the Zen Experience Roll if you like sushi - many wonderful flavors. They also used to have a great dessert - frozen lychee mousse (lychee is an Asian pear). It was off the menu for a while, but you might ask about it.

Here is another recent thread that will probably help you: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/522280

Thanks - I'm glad that Zen is good. We love sushi, so we may even go there twice. Is the area around Championsgate generally any good, or should we just head to where the other recommended restaurants are?

There isn't much real close to the omni, but you have the Disney restaurants that are easy to get to. Mid priced, about the only one I would recommend is Boma. Flying fish, California Grill, and Jiko are definitely on the pricier side. I haven't been, but Kokopelli's on 27 is close and getting some great reviews. call them to make sure they are open 863-439-5554, that has been an issue I have found with them.
