Review: Taste - Burlington, VT

My wife and I decided to celebrate her birthday a day early on Sunday night as Monday was Memorial Day and we would be home cooking. This is typically a tough night in restaurants so we choose a place we have had positive experiences in the past. We made the right selection !
Te service is always friendly and professional at Taste. Our server, Dara, has clearly chosen this profession because she enjoys it. I wish this was the case more often.
We started off with a Fried Calamari appetizer that was properly prepared and accompanied by two sauces. The dish was beatifully plated and delicious. Our entrees were a Grilled Ribeye and one of the specials which featured linguine tossed with a cram sauce that contained chorizo, wild mushrooms, smoked tomatoes, and fiddleheads. Both dishes were very good. My wife had a couple of well prepared cocktails and I thoroughly enjoyed a glass of Washington State Syrah. Taste does a great job of offering many fine wines by the glass and uses proper stemware, two options I would like to see more restaurants pay attention to.
If you are visiting Burlington, Taste should be on your list for enjoyable dining and great service. The huge parking lot is also a plus especially on busy weekend nights.
TonyO that's such an appetizing review! We are so much creatures of habit when we go to Shelburne. I just glimpsed their web site.... Next time I'll insist at least one dinner at Taste. Thanks very much.
Ahh, My favorite place in Burlington. Nice to hear they are still doing a great job. I live over an hour away but always try to stop by when in town. Wish I could get there more often. The chef is quite a character. Very cheerful and funny but also serious about what he does. Sounds like the food is spot on. I am on their mailing list and received a note about them cooking for the discover jazz festival musicians coming up soon.
They are catering the Jazz Festival so that explains why they are closed. I have heard good things about the Green Room. This weekend is going to be a tough table with teh events in Burlington. I would consider dining just outside of Burlington (depending on which direction you are coming from).
