What to eat this summer on Martha's vineyard

I'm going to Martha's Vineyard for a couple of days, later this week. I know a lot of restaurants are closed over the winter, staff changes frequently, etc. So it's hard to ask for eating recommendations especially at the start of the summer -- but I am asking anyway. Where have you eaten lately, that you can recommend? Thanks.

  1. Jimmy Seas is reliable for pasta. One of the people I dined with had the butternut squash ravioli and loved it. The seafood and pasta dishes are well worth it. Otherwise, the Art Cliff in Vineyard Haven is about my favorite place for breakfast and lunch...not sure if they are open for dinner. Terrific menu, and everything very well prepared. Go there for breakfast if you can...I love the codfish cakes!! Nancy's in OB is good, and right on the water. They have casual and upscale sections...great onion rings in the casual part. The Square Rigger in ET is good basic stuff, prime rib and so forth (full niece is one of the owners). Sharkeys, next to Linda Jean's, is pretty good casual mexican: Zapotec is more sophisticated s'western. We have family on the Vineyard and go often, but don't usually do fine dining (two-year-old granddaughter not quite ready.)

    1. If you have a vehicle, try the Right Fork Diner in Katama. Great food, and a nice atmosphere. Very casual, on a grass airstrip with bi-plane rides going in and out.
