Has anybody been and noticed major price inflation?

I hadn't been to Z Cuisine or Z Cuisine A Cote since ZC reopened and ZCAC opened. We went to A Cote for dinner on Friday, and were stunned by the prices. The Charcuterie plate, which is listed as $21 on the website was both significantly smaller than it used to be at Z Cuisine, but also $29. The "Spain at Its Best" dish, which is listed as $29 on the website was $36 (we passed on this despite the siren song of Iberico pork). We ended up ordering the charcuterie plate, the cheese fondue, and the Tartine a la Parisieene Gratinee plus two glasses of wine and it was over $100 before tip (no dessert). Just looking at the prices on their website that is a huge inflation. The website prices would be:

Charcuterie                    $21
Fondue                          $17
Tartine                           $14
_________________________
Subtotal=                       $52
+Wine                          ~$25
_________________________
Total=                             $77

But our meal was $30 more. How can they justify such a huge increase in prices without changing the menu at all? I'm irritated because Z Cuisine has already been one of my favorite places and I always felt that the prices were very fair. I'd be willing to pay more for some of the signature main dishes like the cassoulet, but am I crazy to think that almost $30 is too much to spend for a smaller version of their old charcuterie plate?

On the bright side, we made it to Mel's Bistro Saturday night, and it was terrific (and also less expensive than A Cote for two appetizers and two mains).

This month marks the largest price increase to food EVER. When restaurants are faced with either lowering the quality of their product or raising prices what do you think they would do? Also have you ever priced Iberico pork it is crazy expensive.

I suspect Megiac's aware of the situation in food price increases; M, are you suggesting that the new place is taking advantage of customers' sympathies in that regard?

I understand that restaurant prices are going to rise. But Z Cuisine is the only restaurant I've seen in town so far to have an ~30% jump in prices. We've been working in our yard every weekend and not cooking, so I've been eating out a lot recently.

And I understand that Iberico is expensive, but it's not a plate of Iberico. It's another charcuterie plate with 3 slices of Iberico and other dried meats. And they were charging $29 for it --with Iberico-- last time they updated their website.

I'd probably not be as astounded by the price increase were we having a full meal. But the only food we ordered was the charcuterie plate, a small dish of fondue, and what was essentially an open-faced sandwich. To me, that doesn't justify a $70+ plus food bill, particularly in a place that bills itself as a wine bar and that is associated with a restaurant that historically been one of the more reasonably priced restaurants in town.
