Anything comparable to Eden's Grill in the East Valley??

I have been salivating over Seth's pictures from his visit to Eden's Grill! I live in Queen Creek but I was in the area of Lincoln/32nd and decided to trek up to Eden's only to find out that they don't open until 4pm on Saturday. I swear, I wanted to cry!

Is there anything comparable to Eden's with a closer proximity to the East Valley?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  1. I've never been to Spices, but, I've heard good things. It's in Chandler, so, not exactly Queen Creek, either.

Thanks johnswberg , anywhere in the East Valley (Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert) is great. There is NOTHING close to me so I assume I will have to drive, just not to North Phx. I actually live within walking distance to The Pork Shop so I guess I can be thankful for that:)

    2. I've had two great lunches recently at Dooby's in Mesa, their lamb kebabs are quite good. Can't really say how it compares to Eden's, however, as I've never been there.

      2. Two great places for kabobs and rice in Tempe are Tasty Kabob and Kabab Palace.

Neither is a carbon copy of Eden's, but both stand on their own quite nicely.

Tasty Kabob is a Persian restaurant, and it combines exotic dishes from Iran with some of the familiar Middle Eastern favorites. Located at Apache & Dorsey next to Pita Jungle. Park on Dorsey if the lot is full. Light rail construction on Apache is complete, so getting there is not a problem.

Kabab Palace is an Afghan restaurant. You won't find things like hummus on the menu, but you will find a nice style of cooking that combines the best of Indian and Middle Eastern flavors. Located on Elliott near Kyrene in southern Tempe.

Both are family businesses with friendly service.

I haven't been to Tasty Kebab since I lived in Tempe a couple years ago, but I did enjoy it; same goes for Efe's Turkish Cuisine.

thanks alot CH'ers for some great ideas! I still can't wait to try Eden's but it looks like I have some good substitutes with out having to drive 115 miles roundtrip!

Well, now you know what we have to go through to score some bacon from The Pork Shoppe. :)

          2. Have never been to Eden's Grill so can't compare. Do love all the places mentioned so far on this thread. Another option we like a lot is Pita Jungle...there's one in Chandler and one in Tempe. The Chandler location at Dobson/Ray is probably the closer for you. Come Thurs night for the jazz jam sessions...great way to spend an evening over a glass of wine and a meze platter.

            1. Chef H Grill at Lindsey and Pecos in Gilbert is excellent and not too far from you. I crave his dips, salads and side dishes and my husband loves the grilled meats.
