Highly recommend either Jar or Wolfgang's (by Wolfgang Zweiner)!

I'm a big fan of Jar, too.

Taylor's has the same quality for half the price!

Half the price or even less. But the same quality? No way, (and I love Taylor's).

I'm sorry, but I also don't think so. I like Taylor's for what it is. It's great for what it is. But it's in a whole different, lower, league from any of the other places mentioned above. For that matter, my favorite, less-expensive steak in town is at Mercado Buenos Aires on Sepulveda Blvd. in Van Nuys. Although they don't have alcohol.

You will probably get lots of different opinions on this. My favorites are Arnie Morton's, Mastro's, and (while not a soley steakhouse), Grill on the Alley. I have not been to Wolfgang's, and I am looking forward to trying it from what I have heard on this board.

            My vote goes to Mastro's.

Anyone have any comments on BLT Steak?

Been to BLT twice in the last month or so. Incredibly disappointing. Highly recommend Wolfgang's. Best Porterhouse in town by far. Also, Mastro's is great as well.

Agree. Wolfang's blows the competition away.

I've also been to BLT twice since they've opened, and I loved it--both times. Steak was good, service was attentive, and popovers--amazing. I've yet to try Wolfgang's...will keep in mind when I am in the mood for steak again, but BLT should not be ignored.

not at all trendy, but I always have a fantastic and flawless service at the Pacific dining car down town. excellent wine list too.

IMO the best steak besides Cut (and so different in type that it's really not a comparison) is the steak for 2 at Lucques. Have tried all others listed here except Wolfgang's and BLT
