Inner Harbor Baltimore lunch with little kids

I'm hoping that "pay it forward" works here...I've responded to many a request, and am hoping that what goes around...

Family from DC and Phili and NJ are meeting in Baltimore, Inner Harbor, to go to the aquarium and lunch. 6 adults, 3 kids under 5. Restaurant needs to be walking distance to aquarium and kid-friendly. Thoughts????

Couldn't y'all walk to Amicci's in L'il It'ly? I understand that it's kid-friendly. The pasta isn't bad. I know at lunch it's a pick your own pasta, pick your own sauce type menu. People rave over their buttery shrimp bowl app (or something like that).

It will be a shorter walk if you walk behind the Aquarium/Hard Rock, etc. instead of down Pratt. Then you can cross onto Fawn and be in Little Italy. If you have strollers, you'll definitely be able to make it.

As for Chow-worthy places, it's slim pickins in the Inner Harbor.

We're at Harborplace all the time with our 4 year old and have found Houlihan's to be the best bet both for her and us. It is very kid friendly (milk shakes in kid cups, crayons and a decent kid's menu) and has pretty good sandwiches and salads for the adults. It's also right on the south end of the Pier 4 building next ot the aquarium. I think it's definitely the 'best of the worst" of the tourist traps.
Five Guys in the Pratt St. Pavillion is also pretty good if you can do burgers, dogs and fries in a very casual place.

I almost cringe to make this recommendation, but immediately next to the Aquarium is the Hard Rock Cafe. When I was a kid I LOVED the Hard Rock. I thought it was hip and cool and fun. I liked touring the memorabilia while waiting for the food and checking out the gift shop when it was over. Kids under 5 might not have the same fascination, but at least its a touristy type place that will be used to dealing with kids. Plus, although its been years, I don't remember the food being too terrible. I am sure they can do a burger and fries or an entree salad justice.

Jon Parker--Thanks. Unfortunately, that's what I thought (that there just wasn't much). Cheesecake Factory (ugh) might be our best option. I think the family wanted more than a deli...

I think the problem with pay it forward in this case is that there's just not much in walking distance of the harbor, esp. with younger kids. It's really chain city down there. It's not that we aren't willing, it's that there's just not much to recommend.

That said, Attman's Deli is not too far, and is a fantastic place for lunch. Excellent corned beef, pastrami, hot dogs wrapped in bologna. It's probably doable with kids that young, but I doubt you'd want to go farther. Aside from that, I think there's a Five Guys in Harbor Place, but that's about it.

Jon is correct, the harborplace (those twin buildings/mall) is mostly chains. If your kids enjoy sushi, there is an Edo Sushi in the haborplace. Otherwise it's like California Pizza Kitchen and Cheesecake Factory. There is a tapas place as well (La Tasca?)

Attman's is a bit of a walk, though well worth it. If you are willing to walk to Attman's, then most of Little Italy is open to you as well.

Boy do I feel like a dope. Of course Little Italy is right there. It's just not on my radar, since I'm really not a fan of Italian, at least the version served there. So someone else may have specific recs for the OP as far as that goes.

I'm not an Edo fan, although I've never had anything bad there. It just seems overpriced and not particularly interesting. I tried CPK about a month ago with a friend when we were looking for dinner in Hunt Valley mall. I had the Greek pizza, which was decent enough. If their other offerings are like that, it would be a perfectly respectable chain choice, IMO.

Also, stay far, far away from Phillips. Simply awful.

The Cheesecake Factory in the Inner Harbor Pratt Street Pavillion might be a good place and is very close to the Aquarium. FoiGras

Cafe Boheme (or is it Boheme Cafe) directly across Pratt Street from the Aquarium is not bad. The food is pretty fresh (sandwiches, soup, baked goods) and they actually make an effort to use produce from Maryland.
