This sounds kind of funny but I have been delegated to bake cupcakes for 10-12 people for a sex in the city party for next Friday. Any suggestions? I know we will be having cosmos and then heading to the movie.

I would love to do a pink frosting. How do you make a perfect pink?? recipe suggestions please.

Pink frosting - just add a little red food coloring at a time, unless you want to buy pink food coloring at a specialty store.

If you want to take it just a little further, you could make the cupcakes from the recipe used at the cupcake place they went to in the show. They went to Magnolia Bakery and their basic cupcake recipe is pretty easy to track down online. Here's the link to the Food Network posting of the recipe.

drewb123, I recommend gel food coloring, it doesn't affect whatever you are mixing it into as a liquid might.

I think they make a white gel, so you can come up with the pink you like before you mix it into the frosting and alter accordingly.

Those are good recipes. And, you can frost it as they do, too:

It takes practice. I tried it and totally botched it the first few times. As for coloring pink, it takes very little dye to turn the frosting pink. Half a drop, at most--I find it more accurate to dip a toothpick into the dye and dip it in the frosting and mix, repeat until you get the right color.

Hi -
I made pink cupcakes for my nieces birthday a couple of years ago. I used Rose Levy Beranbaum's recipe for Strawberry Buttercream, found in The Cake Bible. Basically it is a buttercream recipe (can't remember which specific type) and Strawberry puree. The flavor was fantastic and it was a very pretty shade of pink. I don't know how intensly pink you want it, but this was a softer pink...not hot pink. But it a more natural way of getting it pink. Raspberry puree could be used as well and I bet you'd get a darker pink.

Just made a neoclassic buttercream (very rich) with seedless raspberry preserves and rose extract. It is pink, but I also added some red coloring, since the neoclassic is yellow in color.
