Dinner, drinks around midtown on a Friday night (tonight!)?
I'm meeting up with a group of friends (6 in total) tonight for drinks/dinner and then a movie. We wanted to stay more or less near midtown since we need to be at the Ziegfeld by 9, 9:30ish. I searched the boards but didn't find anythying. Anyone have any suggestions for a decent place for dinner and drinks? Or, a place for drinks and somewhere nearby for dinner? No dietary restrictions, just want it to be easy to get back to the Ziegfeld (54th between 6th and 7th). Ideas? Thanks!

How about Papillion? It's right on 54th just west of Madison. It's certainly close and convenient. The food's not bad. I had a very light meal there (apps and salads only) last fall and was pretty good. It's a big place so I can't imagine it would be difficult to get in, get a drink and get dinner.
