Firestone Grill or Mo's in San Luis Obispo?

Looking for a place for dinner on a coast drive in SLO, and both Mo's and the Firestone Grill look promising. The tri-tip steak sandwich at the Firestone looks tasty as do the bbq ribs and tri-tip at Mo's. Mo's looks like they serve sides of beans, cornbread and cole slaw with their meals. Any preferences between the two? How do these places rate? Thanks in advance for your help.

Mo's is good but it doesn't standout from other BBQ places to me; so I'd go with Firestone, which does standout from other places serving the same type of food (unless you can make it to both somehow!).

I agree with TJ, they are both tasty. They are kinda two different animals though. Firestone is more fast-foodish. Open flame bbq, fries, rings, all very yummy. Mo's is down-homish a variety of bbq sauces, more meat selections, beans, corn bread, cole slaw type accompaniments. I say you you visit one for lunch, and the other for dinner! :-)

My vote goes enthusiatically to Firestone. I never liked Mo's that much. Like leanneabe, I still crave the tri-tip sandwich....a lot.

Firestone is grilling over open flame. Huuuge college scene.

Mo's is smoker-style. Much less of a "scene".

          Both serve tasty food.

Just hit Mo's on Wednesday. Outstanding ribs, try all flavors from the Combo or sampler.
Firestone for Tri-tip and burgers. Both are good. A basket of fries at Firestone fills two for sure.

The last time I was at either was a couple of years ago, but when I went to school there we ate at one or the other almost weekly. I don't think I'd really be able to compare them, as they're different types of places. If you're craving some bbq ribs or pulled pork, definitely head to Mo's. If you want a tasty tri-tip sandwich, go to Firestone. Most of Mo's dishes do come with a side (which I think are okay but not necessarily mind-blowing), but you have to order your fries/rings at Firestone separately.

I've found comparable bbq places since leaving SLO, but I still crave that tri-tip sandwich from Firestone. So, I guess my vote would be for Firestone, since I've yet to find any tri-tip like it since leaving. Tri-tip sandwich and a bowl of fries+rings. If you order a salad, be cautioned that they're huge. If you do go to Mo's, I like their fried green tomatoes.
