I'm lucky enough to belong to a CSA that delivers such meat from a farm in Vermont to my home in Boston. My sister-in-law lives in Midtown and wonders if there's anything similar in her area. Or, if not, other shops/markets she could check out? They're both teachers on a budget, so affordable options especially welcome. They do have a car and are also in Queens fairly regularly so I've also posted the same question on the Outer Boroughs board at http://www.chowhound.com/topics/521747 ... although with a young baby in tow, an option for home delivery would be best. Thanks for any leads!

It's not cheap and not in Midtown, but Gramercy Meat market is excellent. Not sure if they deliver but you can always call and ask.

They may also want to try some mail-order. I've been happy with the short ribs I've ordered from here. My burgers -- not as much. And they really pack the items very well. There was a problem with the computer system in my building that notifies us of all deliveries and our shipment was at our building for three days before we were notified. Luckily, our meat was still frozen solid.
