Does anyone have any recs for an Italian restaurant (Southern, preferred) near the Kimmel Center? It would be pre-theatre on a Tuesday night.
Thanks.

Both restaurants below are great suggestions, but La Viola is Northern Italian and Mercato is 'italian-inspired' food focussing on 'market-fresh' ingredients and is 'experimental' in style (see their website: http://www.mercatobyob.com/ ). If you're looking for good SOUTHERN Italian, try La Fontana Della Citta at 17th & Spruce.

La Viola, on 16th just North of Spruce is consistently good. There are actually two restaurants across the street from each other, I believe serving the same menu. The one on the east side is the older one, and can get crowded. We have eaten there many times before concerts at the Kimmel and always have had good food and service.

Mercato (12th and Spruce) is your best bet, it's BYO but there's a decent state store at 12th and Chestnut
