try the Bakery on south oyster bay road in Plainview, maybe 10-15 minutes from Melville

Reinwald's Bakery is not far from Melville; it's in Huntington on New York Avenue.

I tried Reinwald's when I first moved back here; very disappointing cakes, I thought.
I don't have a Melville recco, but Huntington finally has a very good bakery on Wall St. called Fiorello Dolce. Pricey, but a big cut above.
