    1. Heh, free booze? Hmmm....

Funny thing is I say this same thing every tour, then wind up crumbling at the last minute and buying a ticket. Life is short, and they're not getting any younger.

Saw Donald Fagen on his solo tour last year, and that was an amazing show. Epic version of Nightfly, with very long outro full of great improv. Apparently Walter will be touring at some point, supporting his new one.

If I wind up going I will let you know.

Someday I want to be a moderator, then I can also have no fun.

      1. re: Josh least we know the sheer brilliance of what we wrote!
Maybe when I have dinner with Les and Jules this summer, I will bring this up in dinner conversation... ; )
Do let me know if you end up going and we'll meet for tons of drinks before the show!

I so hope you are joining in on the fun for tapas and cocktails..

Wow, Humphrey's. That's kinda sad. I remember seeing them at Coors.

They opened with that one up here. They added a lovely horn arrangement to the bridge.

Sorry, no. Everything tonight was too literal for me. Most expensive concert ever. Chuck's car began to die on Pacific Highway, had to pay for a very expensive tow truck - not to mention the super-sized cab fare back to LA.

My "gold teeth" would have been a bargain in comparison.

                2. Ahhh, memories.
I saw Steely Dan live back in 1972 in Lincoln, Nebraska (they were the opening act for Frank Zappa).
Before the show we ate at an Italian restaurant not far from the venue. The place was far and above ANY Italian restaurant I'd ever eaten at up until then (and I grew up in the NY area). We were totally blown away by the homestyle Northern Italian fare (and the concert as well...what a show!).
Racking my brain to remember the name of the place (a small, mom & pop family run joint, probably long gone by now)...I never did make it back there. We drove to the concert from central Iowa and 4 months later, I'd switched to a college back home in NJ.

Folks, Steely Dan is the greatest rock and roll band of all time, goes without saying. But let's stick to chow. We've removed some posts here.
